I have about 600 DIY pins on Pinterest, no joke. So I decided it was about time to actually do something inspired by those hundreds of pins.
Dawson was in desperate need of a desk, and I saw this beauty just creeping in the basement of my moms house.
Yes, desks can creep, every time I walked by the desk it said “Hey baby, take me home”. So, I did. Then I stripped it!
Which of course was an adventure in itself.
David helped me out on this next part, please excuse the awesome photogs, this part required a ton of measuring, taping and cutting out of the tape. He didn’t finish this until about 11:30 pm.
I wish I could provide a pattern to make it easier but everybody’s furniture will have different dimensions. Our version is scaled down to about 1/2 the size of the actual flag.

So after painting, this is what we had the next morning.
Looks like a mess right? Well this is where the magic happens………..
I was so fascinated with this part that I had David stop so I could capture it forever.
I just spent another five minutes looking at that picture, ok, moving on!
We decided not to paint the white stripes because we really loved the natural character of the wood underneath.
Lovely dings and all! David and I are pretty pleased with ourselves seeing as this is our first ever piece of re-finished furniture! Here’s a little before and after…..
My inspiration for this project came from this dresser made by Miss Mustard Seed you can click on the picture to go to her full tutorial!
